Simple, right?<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-279\" src=\"http:\/\/cliffnordman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/citystreets-1024x487.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cliffnordman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/citystreets-1024x487.png 1024w, https:\/\/cliffnordman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/citystreets-300x143.png 300w, https:\/\/cliffnordman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/citystreets-768x365.png 768w, https:\/\/cliffnordman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/citystreets.png 1045w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Yeah, it&#8217;s pretty simple.\u00a0 I&#8217;m approximating the concentric roads with straight segments between the radial roads, which mostly works.\u00a0 After defining the roads, I defined &#8220;blocks&#8221;, spaces between roads where structures could go.\u00a0 Most would be basic tents &amp; shelters, but a few would be landmarks.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-276\" src=\"http:\/\/cliffnordman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/city_niceblocks-1024x610.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"417\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cliffnordman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/city_niceblocks-1024x610.png 1024w, https:\/\/cliffnordman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/city_niceblocks-300x179.png 300w, https:\/\/cliffnordman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/city_niceblocks-768x458.png 768w, https:\/\/cliffnordman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/city_niceblocks.png 1059w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A mistake in the code that rotates the blocks into place created something that looked like the solar collectors from Blade Runner 2049.\u00a0 While cool, that&#8217;s the wrong sci-fi alternate universe.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-277\" src=\"http:\/\/cliffnordman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/city_solarcollector.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"950\" height=\"575\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cliffnordman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/city_solarcollector.png 950w, https:\/\/cliffnordman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/city_solarcollector-300x182.png 300w, https:\/\/cliffnordman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/city_solarcollector-768x465.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The block in the center will eventually be the giant &#8220;Man&#8221; statue, and the large cylinder will be the &#8220;temple&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-278\" src=\"http:\/\/cliffnordman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/city-match-1024x512.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cliffnordman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/city-match-1024x512.png 1024w, https:\/\/cliffnordman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/city-match-300x150.png 300w, https:\/\/cliffnordman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/city-match-768x384.png 768w, https:\/\/cliffnordman.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/city-match.png 1257w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These temporary assets are already more interesting than the old landscape.\u00a0 The shape of the city creates pleasing leading lines.\u00a0 I did increase the height of the player character and the AI photographer to 6 meters so they can see over the camps, but are still shorter than the landmarks.\u00a0 Maybe they are piloting quadcopters.
